Uganda Nyakshenyi Kingha Collective
Grown at 1800 – 2200 meters up in the Kigezi mountains, in the rural areas around Nyakshenyi, this well – rounded natural coffee comes from our partner farmers in and around the village.
They first stumbled upon this region when looking for an alternate route to Kampala, due to significant road washouts – which generally complement the rainy reason in up-country Uganda. They established a satellite station with on of their partner farmers, enabling them to source great coffee directly from the community. The satellite station is equipped to handle the initial steps in the quality control process. The coffee is received, graded, floated and placed on raised beds where it is handpicked and turned for the first 2-3 days before it is transported to Kingha Estate.
Once the coffee reaches Kingha Estate it is transferred to the drying beds where it continues to be dried and turned for a further 20-25 days. When the coffee has reached the proper moisture levels it is then hulled, graded an placed in Grain-Pro bag to ensure the coffee maintains its quality.
